Photovoice Padlet Acitivity

Module: Academic Literacy

This assignment asked students to take a photo of what online learning meant to them. They had to write a short description and engage with each other's photos and responses.

I provided instructions on this activity via a video and the full Padlet board can be accessed at this link.

Finding Your Academic Voice

Module: Academic Literacy

This class activity focused on helping students find their academic voice. The activity centered on using the methodology for finding a topic to write about it but applying it to one's personal life to find out who we are.

Afterwards, we negotiated aspects of ourselves to include, or not include, in our academic voices.

African Perspectives on Psychology

For this lesson, I created a Crossword for students in order to allow them to familiarize themselves with the concepts related to African Perspectives on Personality.

Poetry Activity

Module: Academic Literacy

In this project, students were asked to write a poem on their interpretation of "Referencing" and what it means in academia.

Here are some examples of what they produced:

**

It’s like rain

One droplet splashes to the ground

First thought
Heaven opens
A flood of ideas rush to the floor
A race to first
Who will come last?
The credit is mine
The thought is ours
My droplet will reach first
My name will go first
I deserve all that is
I claim it all
The fame
And all that’s to come

**

If everyone had to start from the beginning,

progress would be a slow to impossible inning.

So instead, we learn from those who have gone before us,

and use their knowledge to explore a new future to discuss.

If we do not recognize those of the past, how can we claim knowledge of the future in the hope it would last?

Based on the path set out by others,

together, we aim to learn and build on knowledge first set out by our brothers.

We show our respect by referencing their name,

and use their knowledge to grow ours, while grateful we remain.
